Scottie Alan Morton (February 20, 1974 - August 3, 2017)

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

"Every man dies, but not every man truly lives." - Braveheart.

And there were never truer words written that embodied the life and times of Scottie "Scott" Alan Morton. Trademarked by his high energy and willingness to help anyone - friends, family, or strangers - Scott spent his last moments doing just that. He was the practical joker of the family, and described by friends and strangers as the most willing person to "give you the shirt off his back."

At 43 years young, Scott spent his childhood years in Bridgeton and attended West Craven High School. In 2010, he married his best friend and love of his life, Hiedi Grady, where he has since made his home in Cove City.

He is survived by his wife and best friend for life, Hiedi and son, John Alex Grady, both of the home. Also surviving are his sister, Alisha Williams; father, Alan Broyles; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Durwood and Helen Grady; sister-in-laws, Lori Ann Worley and Toni Carr and husband Robert; nieces and nephews, Bryana Morton, Andre Morton, Dalis Davis, Abbee Williams, Madison Besancon, Patrick Worley, and Lily Carr. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of aunts, uncles and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Morton.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 6th at Cotten Funeral Home. A celebration of Scott's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share a written memory of Scott by bringing it to the visitation or online at www.cottenfuneralhome.com.

Arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
